Wilma Lucille Raile age 95 (formerly of Dupree, SD) passed away at Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon, SD on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Wilma Lucille Fuhrer was born 6/27/1931 at Dupree. She was the first born daughter of William & Christina (Springer) Fuhrer.
She grew up on the Fuhrer farm north of Dupree and attended her first 6 years of grade school at the Cloverleaf school. 7th & 8th grade classes were at the Main school 3 miles west of the farm. She continued her high school education in Dupree and graduated.
She met her future husband Willie Raile thru family get togethers as a child and they were married on June 28th 1951. They lived at Ridgeview for the first year of their marriage. In 1952 they moved to the Fuhrer farm where she grew up and remained there until 2019 when she moved to Lemmon Nursing Home for 7 years.
She has 2 daughters Linda Berndt (Dupree) and Lou Ann Bubbers (Lemmon, SD.)
Wilma raised many farm animals (chickens were her main thing each year). Every spring she would order 250 chickens, 100 roosters for butcher and 150 laying hens selling eggs to local business and local people in the area.
Wilma & Willie enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights at the old Dupree Legion Hall.
Wilma was a true farm wife at heart she spent summers helping in the hay field in her younger years, helping with the cattle, (possibly the gate lady while sorting them and not letting the right one out) we all know how ranching goes with husbands and wives. I say this with a laugh & raising bum lambs. Always a helping hand to her husband Willie when there was a break down in the field. She also raised a big garden each year to put away the produce for the winter. Bread baking was weekly, along with caramel rolls, fry bread and other sweets were on hand when visitors came.
Wilma cooked for the Senior Citizen center in Dupree for a few years and finished up her career as baker/server at the Dupree school for 15 years.
She is survived by her daughters Linda Berndt of Dupree and Lou Ann Bubbers (Fred), Lemmon. Granddaughters Heather Steig (Dane) Minot, ND, Trista Smude (Josh) Minot, ND and Nicole Cummings (Casey) Colorado Springs, Colorado. Grandson Will Anders (Christine Womack) Dupree,
Great Grandchildren, Riggin Anders, Bailey Romeo, Annika & Ashlyn Steig, Lennox and Eden Smude, Harlan & Eli Cummings,
