Wilma Klein was born on December 16, 1916 near Long Lake, SD in McPherson County to John and Rose (Kessler) Klein. She attended school at Long Lake, SD until her family moved to a farm north of Baker, MT where she continued her education in a country school. Her family moved south of Baker, near the Gunderson farm, where she met and eventually married Gilbert Gunderson. They were married on August 13, 1940 at Hibbing, MN. After their marriage they lived for a short time at Baker, MT. During this time their son, Howard, was born. They moved to Kinsey, MT where their first daughter, Loretta, was born and later their second daughter, Darlene was born. In 1945, the young family of five moved to a farm northwest of Lemmon. In 1963, Gilbert and Wilma moved to North Lemmon.

Wilma worked as a custodian with her husband at the 1st National Bank for a number of years. She was a member of the Church of God. Wilma loved gardening, and continued it as long as she was able to do it. She was always humming while she worked. She watched her family grow. She was able to see her Great-Great Grandson during her last summer on this earth. In her younger years, she experienced milking cows by hand, chopping wood to keep the house warm, carrying water to the livestock, and reading the Bible using a kerosene lamp. She will always be remembered as a loving, sweet mother who said, "If you don't behave, I'm telling dad when he gets home." She will be remembered as a Grandma who never got mad at anyone, and we all know she loved Jesus. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Her husband passed away on August 23, 1984. She continued to live in her home in North Lemmon.

Wilma passed away on Sunday morning, January 22, 2012 at Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon where she had been a resident for a little over a month.

She was a member of the Church of God.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her three children, Howard (Evelyn) Gunderson, Minot, ND, Loretta Schmidt, Lemmon, SD and Darlene (LaVerne) Wolf, Ashley, ND; brother, Walvin Klein, Lemmon; seven Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, two Step-Great Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Gunderson and three sisters, Esther Klein in infacy, Elsie Klein, and Irene Klukas Purdon.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Saturday afternoon.
