Funeral services for Wilma Clendenen, age 71 of Elgin, will be held at 1:00 pm MT, Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin. Pastor John Amundson will officiate with burial in the Old Stone Cemetery north of Elgin.


WILMA MARIE SMITH was born December 9, 1937 in Los Angeles, CA to Lawrence and Bernice (Bublitz) Smith. She attended Franklin High School in Los Angeles graduating in 1956. Wilma was united in marriage to Jack Clendenen on December 5, 1958 in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in Highland Park, CA and later moved to the San Fernando Valley where they raised three children, Zoe, Rick, and Tim. Wilma worked as a Legal Secretary from the early 1970's until retiring in the 1990's. They moved from California to their ranch north of Elgin in 1999.


Wilma has been in failing health the past ten years. She passed away on Monday evening, February 16, 2009 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin.


Surviving family members include her husband, Jack, Elgin, ND; 2 sons and one daughter-in-law, Rick Clendenen, Burbank, CA; Tim and Valerie Clendenen, Acton, CA; 1 daughter, Zoe Clendenen, Burbank, CA; 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Jennifer, Caitlyn, Paige, and Brooke; 2 great grandchildren, Lilyana and Julianna.


She was preceded in death by her parents.
