The Funeral Service for William H. Macheel Jr., age 69 of Rapid City, formerly of Lemmon and south Keldron area, will be held at 2:00pm Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon. Pastor Florence Hoff will officiate with burial in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon.

Serving as casketbearers are Sylvia Johnson, Janice Larson, Rick Smith, Connie Garcia, Sandy Johnson, Dave Smith, Dennis Dix, Roger Dix, David Johnson, Darryl Dix, Larry Jensen, Curt Johnson, Becky Thurman, and Susan Wanner.

William H. Macheel Jr. "Billy" was born on February 28, 1947 in Bismarck, ND to William Sr. and Lyla (Dix) Macheel. He grew up on the family farm south of Keldron and attended the Highland View Country School in Sherman School District. He helped his parents with the farm and ranch work, until the family moved to Lemmon.

Billy later resided at Live, Inc., Lemmon, where he gained many friends in and around the community. Billy worked at LIVE's training center mostly in assembly and bench work jobs. Billy had an uncanny memory and remarkable recall ability. He could flawlessly remember names, and dates which seemed impossible to almost everyone else. He always took an interest in others and their well being, inquiring about them and how they are doing. When you met Billy on the street, in church or community events there was always that smile and hand shake awaiting you. He loved fishing and going bowling.

He moved to Rapid City in 1992 and resided at a group home there, until his hospitalization and passing on March 29, 2016 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Surviving is his brother, Gary, sister-in-law, Kimberly Macheel, of Lugoff, SC; numerous, nieces, nephew, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
