William "Bill"
Erhart
Oct 31, 1959 — Apr 22, 2020
Hettinger
William (Bill) Joseph Erhart, 60, passed away from natural causes on April 22, 2020 at his home in Hettinger, North Dakota.
Bill was born October 31, 1959 to Lawrence & Shirley Erhart at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Minot, North Dakota. He resided in Minot until the age of 4 when the family moved to Billings, Montana. At the age of 11 the family moved to Lemmon where he attended middle school.
His freshman year of high school took him to Aberdeen, SD where he attended the "School for the Blind," graduating in 1978. He returned to Lemmon working various jobs. He began working at Wheeler Manufacturing in January 1986 until his position was eliminated in March 1996, due to modernization of machinery processes. He then began working at the Busted T, the Lemmon Truck Stop, and most recently was employed at the C&N Café in Hettinger.
Upon moving to Hettinger in December 2015, he enjoyed having his own place and being more independent. Life presented him many personal challenges but they never brought him down. He never complained, his unbreakable positivity was an inspiration.
Bill was a kind, caring and compassionate man. He was well known in the community, often found walking downtown to buy a Coke, chatting with anyone who crossed his path. He loved to laugh and tell stories, and go fishing with his Uncle Myrin. Bill loved watching the 3 Stooges, MASH, Perry Mason and especially enjoyed westerns. He also enjoyed reading the Reader's Digest and getting audio books from the library.
Bill will be greatly missed and is survived by his brother Jerry Erhart, of Lemmon, sister Sheri (Scott) Rokusek of Watertown, SD and Nancy (Rod) Cain of Moorhead, MN, his nieces and nephews Melissa, Julie, Amy, William, Robert and Allison. He is also survived by his uncle Bernard Erhart and uncle Larry (Chris) Bauer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Shirley Erhart, and his niece MacKenzie Rokusek.
Service of Remembrance and scattering of ashes will be held at a later date, when it is safer for loved ones to gather together.
A memorial has been established by his family. Cards of condolences may be sent to:
