Wayne Lee
Steinmetz
Jan 12, 1942 — Apr 12, 2018
Carson
Wayne Lee Steinmetz was born January 12, 1942 in Carson, ND, the third of six children born to Gale and Emma (Reamer) Steinmetz. Wayne's siblings are Everett, Roger, Karen, Lyle and Leta. He grew up on their family farm north of Carson. Wayne attended Carl school #2 that was a quarter mile from the farm. He also attended school in Carson, ND. During the coldest months he stayed with Grandpa Lawrence in Carson while attending school there. Wayne also loved the history of the Carson area and could relate so much of it to anyone who was interested in learning about it.
On November 4 th , 1983 he married Melinda Voll and together they had 5 children, Levi, Warren, Patty, Dustin and Lynn. Wayne raised his children on the family farm and showed them everything he knew. He farmed and ranched for most of his life and always had a love for restoring old tractors, especially international tractors. He enjoyed taking his restored tractors through local parades and on tractor treks. Wayne was a Ford man, and rarely did you not see him cruising in a Ford pickup.
Wayne was a religious man. He attended meetings as a young boy in his parents home where he learned to value the living word spoken through the New Testament ministry his parents upheld. He loved and read his bible, recognizing his need for God's help in living truthfully. Wayne inspired others by his effort and attitude, especially when he faced ill health and difficult times. He credited spiritual blessings for his ability to withstand hard trials. He often spoke of his desire to put more time and effort into the things that had eternal value. He often expressed his gratefulness for much special care he received from God's servants, family and friends.
In his later years, Wayne enjoyed buying and selling farm machinery, mainly old tractors, with his two sons beside him, Levi and Warren. Up until his death, Wayne was working on buying a series of white demonstrator Farmall tractors. He also cherished the time he had with his 3 grandchildren, he would often ask "How are my grandbabies doing, growing like weeds."
Wayne enjoyed visiting with people, there was always a pot of hot coffee ready, and should you stop by you were invited to share a cup with him.
Dad, we will miss your laugh.
…Until we meet again, those special memories of you will always bring a smile, if only I could have you back for just a little while, then we could sit and talk again just like we used to do, you always meant so very much and always will do too, The fact that you're no longer here will always cause me pain, but your forever in my heart, until we meet again.
