Walter Blickensderfer, age 87 of Mott, ND, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020 at his home in Mott.

**A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Zoar Congregational Church in Mott with Pastor Corey Warner officiating. Burial will be at the Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott.**

Walter was born on November 19, 1932 near Willa, ND to William and Eliza (Hardle) Blickensderfer.  He graduated from Mott Lincoln High School where he was active in band and choir, attended the North Dakota State Scientific School (now NDSCS), and served in the North Dakota National Guard.

Walter farmed and raised cattle until his retirement in the early 2000's. After retirement he was a faithful volunteer at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home, and in 2002 was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year.

Music and faith were important to Walter.  He led hymns each week at the Zoar Congregational Church, and each Christmas, sang "Silent Night" in German in his beautiful tenor voice.

Though Walter had no children of his own, he was a generous benefactor of charities that support young people, including the Boys and Girls Ranch of North Dakota, the St. Joseph's and Red Cloud Indian Schools, the Ruth Meiers Hospitality House and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Walter is survived by his brother Carl Blickendorf, of San Diego, CA; his sisters-in-law Margaret Blickensderfer of Rapid City, SD; and Lore Blickensderfer of Mott, ND; and his nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Minnie, his brothers Ernest and Ted, his sister-in-law Heather Blickendorf, and a long time companion Anna Finck.
