A memorial has been established to benefit Ronald McDonald House.

Virginia (Peters) Doyle was born September 5, 1947 at the "Shade Place," the ranch where her family lived at that time, west of Faith, SD. Her parents were Emmett Peters and Ethelyn (Murphy) Peters, and brothers were Duane, Guy, and Toby.  In the early 1950s the family established the home ranch on Deep Creek in Perkins County.  The Peters kids rode their horses to the Deep Creek country school where they attended with all the neighbor kids and went to high school in Faith.

Virginia grew up spending many happy days riding horses, especially Diamond, and sledding with her brothers and neighbors.  She was sometimes "volunteered" for the trial run of certain adventures, and she had the scars to prove it.   She worked hard, too, helping with haying and lambing and caring for livestock. She also helped with the indoor chores like cooking and laundry, but really preferred the outdoor chores.

She met Edmund "Bud" Doyle on May 1, 1970 on a blind date while she was working in Rapid City and he was stationed there in the Air Force.  They were married in Faith on August 1, 1970.  Eventually, Bud became a highway patrolman and the family lived in Martin, SD for a few years before moving to Lemmon in 1980.  Virginia was a long-time nurse's aide at Five Counties Hospital in Lemmon and at West River Regional Hospital in Hettinger.  She tried to always "take care of people the way she would want someone to take care of her own mother."

Virginia loved her family and most especially her grandbabies.  She also loved playing cards, especially pinochle and whist, and going back to the ranch to help with lambing and calving, docking and branding.  In the summer, she always had a large garden, making sure to can lots of tomatoes and green beans for her whole family.

Keeping her memory most dear, as the best wife, sister, sister-in-law, mother, and grandmother, are her husband, Bud; brothers Duane and Guy Peters of rural Faith, and Toby (Connie) Peters of Sturgis; sisters-in-law Phyllis Smith and Janet O'Brien of New Jersey; daughter Kim Hoff of Gillette, WY, daughter Trina Doyle of Mandan, ND, and son Joe Doyle of Mandan, ND; one grandson, Brady (Madison) Borowski, three granddaughters, Emma, Maggie and Vallie Hoff; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and many aunts and uncles.
