Violet Fuchs, age 91, of Carson, ND passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center in Elgin, ND.

The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am MT on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carson.  Pastor Sam Biebert will officiate with burial following the service at the Leith Cemetery.  Special music will be provided by Janice Steinmetz, pianist and Keith Gall, soloist.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 25 ^th from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin, and one hour prior to the service at the church in Carson on Friday.

Serving as casket bearers are Chance Fuchs, Dylan Fuchs, Dalton Fuchs, Jack Fuchs, Derick Humann and Seve Schmalz.  Honorary casket bearers are Katherine Fuchs, Kendra Humann, Elizabeth Fuchs, Kristen Fuchs, Keely Schmalz, and Mandi Fuchs.

Violet was born to Otto and Eva (Hochhalter) Hillius on August 26, 1927 on the family farm near Leith, ND.  She graduated from Leith High School and from Dickinson Teacher's College.  She taught at a local school for four years when she met and fell in love with William "Billy" Fuchs.  Billy and Violet were married on December 26, 1948 and moved to the farm south of Carson where she milked cows, took care of her garden, and raised her four sons.  Violet loved being a teacher, and soon found herself teaching Sunday School at the Paradise Lutheran Church.  She did this for many years.

After the passing of her husband, she moved to town where she took the new role of volunteer.  She volunteered for the FSA office and at the Senior Center, where she punched meal tickets.  Many from Carson knew her best by her walks around town. Her family knew her for her incredible strength and courage being a four time cancer survivor and always being just a phone call away for whatever her grandkids or great grandkids needed.   She enjoyed those morning walks, visiting with friends and, of course, God's beautiful land.

Violet is survived by her two sons, Jody (Andrea) Fuchs, Carson, ND; Coyle Fuchs, Carson, ND; her grandchildren, Chance Fuchs (special friend Kendra Schwing), Carson, ND; Dylan (Mandi) Fuchs, Flasher, ND; Katherine Fuchs, Bismarck, ND; Kendra (Derick) Humann, Bismarck, ND; Elizabeth Fuchs ( special friend Bill Malcolm), Mandan, ND; Kristen Fuchs, Bismarck, ND; Jack (Brandy) Fuchs, Carson, ND; Keely (Seve) Schmalz, Bismarck, ND; Dalton Fuchs, Bismarck, ND; eight great-grandchildren, siblings David (Norma) Hillius, Elgin, ND; Rosella (Freddie) Neher, Elgin, ND; Peggy (Donnie) Arndt, Flasher, ND; Judy Roth, Elgin, ND; sister-in-law Charlotte Hillius, Bismarck, ND; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Jack and Terry Fuchs, brother James Hillius, sister Arlene Borchert, great grandson Willyem Malcolm, and parents-in-law Jacob and Elizabeth Fuchs.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Paradise Lutheran Church of rural Carson, ND or Trinity Lutheran Church of Carson, ND.
