Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Vernon Glaesemann will be held on Thursday, July 1 at 2:00 pm at the Zion Lutheran Church of Elgin with Pastor Hazel Behrens officiating.

Vernon was born to Hugo and Freda (Siebel) Glaesemann on January 23, 1928 in New Ulm, Minnesota. Previous to taking over the family farm, he worked as a lineman building some of the early electric lines of our community.

He married Inez Berreth on February 16, 1951. Three children were born to this union, Kim (Rodger) Schock, Kevin (Gail) Glaesemann, and Tracey (Wesley) Schock. He always enjoyed farming, ranching, and engineering.

Throughout the years, Vernon has served on many boards and cooperative efforts both on the local and state level. He served as a member and officer for the local Farmers Union, Community Credit Union, Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative and the ND Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives. He was appointed by the governor to the state electrical board in the years of 1970-1985. Vernon was also a board member of the rural school district and later the Elgin Public School.

Vernon especially enjoyed entertaining with music and humor. Throughout the years, he spent hundreds of hours with his ministry of music, as an active member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church in Elgin and most Sunday Worship Services included his musical gift of singing.

Vernon Floyd Glaesemann peacefully passed from this life to heaven June 21, 2010 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital and Care Center in Elgin, ND.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Evelyn Glaesemann and Violet and Kenneth Toepke; and two brothers and sisters-in law, Raymond and Rose Glaesemann and Alfred and Martha Glaesemann.
