VELMA MINNIE SPRECHER was born on January 5, 1937 in Mott, ND to Herbert and Emma (Baesler) Sprecher along with her identical twin sister, Vesta. Velma grew up on the family farm near New Leipzig where she developed a strong work ethic that shined and inspired throughout her life. She married Leo Schramm on August 26, 1957 and to this union five children were born. Together they raised their family on a dairy farm 17 miles north of New Leipzig.
Velma was a woman who knew how to get things done with limited time and resources. Image washing clothes in a ringer washer for seven people, making sure there was fresh baked bread, and always food on the table. She did all this while milking cows and making sure that all five kids were loved and cared for.
In her later years she moved to Mott, ND and enjoyed many hobbies such as yard work, planting and caring for flowers, and creating works of art.
Velma passed away on Sunday morning, July 7, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Mott.
She is survived by her children Wayne Schramm, Watford City, ND; Rita (Mark) Sivertson, Williston, ND; Denise (Jim) Luchsinger, Mott, ND; Larry (Connie) Schramm, Beulah, ND; Jacob Schramm, Beulah, ND; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother Victor (Betty) Sprecher, Bismarck, ND; sister Vianne (Larry) Becker, Garden City, KS; sisters-in-law Loretta Sprecher, New Leipzig, ND; Joyce Liedtke, Elgin, ND; and her special puppy, Teddy.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo, special companion Ruben, brothers Virgil and Vernon, sister Velora, and twin sister Vesta.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Leipzig, ND
