Vaugh Doerr, age 98, of Stewartville, MN, formerly of the Lodgepole, SD area, passed away in Stewartville, MN on Saturday, January 9, 2021.

Private graveside services will be held.

Vaughn G. Doerr was born at Lodgepole, SD, on August 30, 1922 to Harry and Viola (Larsen) Doerr.

He graduated from High School in Hettinger, ND, and he also completed an 8 week course in Veterinary Science at Miles City Community College in Mile City, MT.

He married the love of his life, Genevieve "Jean" Cornella on June 22, 1948, in Lemmon, SD.  From that day until 1972 they continued on a journey that would take them to live in Hettinger and Bowman, ND, Jordan, Poplar, Sidney, Glasgow and Miles City, MT, before returning to ranching in Lodgepole in 1972.

Vaughn spent 2009 to 2011 in Dickinson, ND, to be with Jean while she was in St. Benedicts Care Center, and after his wife's passing on October 12, 2011 he moved to Stewartville, MN, to live with his daughter until his passing at home at the age of 98, on January 9, 2021.

Throughout his lifetime he commuted all over working (something he wasn't afraid to do) in his fathers and others coal mines; shoveling and delivery coal, and a ranch hand in MT at the age of 15.  In his early 20's he worked for Douglas Aircraft in CA and shipyards in WA before he enlisted in the US Army in 1945 as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, taking training in Fort's Lewis, Benning, Bragg and Camp Roberts.  Following his discharge he sheared sheep, worked road construction and oil rigs in the Dakotas and Montana, heavy duty construction in Greenland Air Base, and as a diesel mechanic in MT before returning to his love (ranching) at Lodgepole.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and looked forward to family reunions.  He occasionally square danced and played cards in his younger years and loved to visit and tell stories.

Vaughn was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hettinger, ND, and St. Isidor's Parish at Ralph, SD.

Vaughn is survived by his sons, Tom (Linda) Doerr, Longview, WA and Tim Doerr, Kelso, WA; daughters, Kelly Doerr, Stewartville, MN and Kim (Greg) Seamands, Lemmon, SD; grandchildren, Nichole (Jon) Goodrich, Sean (Jenna) Seamands, Jessica (Paul) Berwick, Christopher Doerr, Wendi (Russ) Bryant, Jamie Hixson; great-grandchildren, Ainsley Seamands, Hayden Bryant, Grace and Isabelle Goodrich, Finn and Zander Hixson, Jesse, Stella and James Dean; brother, Kenneth (Vada) Doerr, Hettinger, ND; sister-in-law, Elma Doerr, Minot, ND; sisters, Beverly (Jim) LeFebre, Lodgepole, SD and June (Bill) Stevens, Stanley, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; brothers, Walter, Dale, Gene and Alan; one sister, Margaret; brother-in-law, Clairmont "Red" Johnson and sisters-in-law, Lucylle, Nadine and Virginia Doerr.
