Funeral Services for Valentine "Val" Bader, age 89, of Carson, ND, will be held at 1:00 p.m. MT on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin, ND. Fr. Charles Zins will officiate with burial in the St. Theresa's Catholic Cemetery in Carson, ND.

Valentine "Val" Bader, was born on January 15, 1928, north of Carson, ND, on his grandparents farm. He was the oldest of eight children born to Jacob "Jack" and Frances (Wolf) Bader. They lived on a small farmstead for a few years. When Val was a small boy, the family moved to his lifelong home. Val helped on the family farm and did some work for neighbors before his dad asked him to stay and help.

Val helped take care of both of his parents, ensuring their wish of never going into a nursing home was achieved. Although Val himself had to spend a few months in the Mott Good Samaritan Nursing Home, the farm he grew up on and cared for was always his "home" and was where he wanted to be.

Val passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 after a short time in the Mott Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

He is survived by four brothers, Pete (Esther), Mott, ND, Albert, Elgin, ND, Frank (Eileen), Minot, ND and Edwin (Irene), Bismarck, ND; two sisters, Cecelia Renken, Yankton, SD and Pauline Bader, Carson, ND; sister-in-law, Mrs. Joe (Eleanor) Bader, Emerado, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.


He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joe; one nephew, Jared Joe Bovkoon; one niece, Jody Bader; and one brother-in-law, Jim Renken.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Saturday, March 25.
