Timothy Oscar Schaible, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, at St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure, North Dakota.

Timothy was born on October 9, 1956, in Elgin, North Dakota, the son of Oscar and Emma (Schauer) Schaible.

Timothy was raised and educated in Mott, North Dakota, graduating from Mott Lincoln High School in 1975. After graduating from high school, Timothy pursued an Associate of Arts degree at Bismarck Junior College, graduating in 1977. He also completed Basic Correctional Officer Training at the North Dakota State Penitentiary in 1982 and in the Juvenile Service Academy through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission in 1989. In 1994, Timothy would return to college earning his Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Mary, Bismarck. In 1997, Timothy proudly earned his Masters of Education degree with a major in High School Counseling from the City University in Seattle, Washington.

At the age of 5, Timothy lost his right arm in a farming accident. However, Timothy did not allow this to stop him from moving forward in life. This injury created a passion for Timothy to advocate for not only himself but also others with disabilities.

He worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers and the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department as a Park Ranger, Range Technician, and an Agricultural Research Technician.

Timothy spent most of his working life advocating for youth, recognizing their full potential and helping them to see it in themselves. Timothy enjoyed working as a correctional officer at the Bismarck State Penitentiary,  a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor at North Dakota Youth Correctional Center in Mandan, and a Rehabilitation Counselor in Washington. He also worked as a Residence Hall Director at NDSU and as a Student Support Services Officer at UND. He was additionally recognized by NDSU for his commitment to Student Services. He was passionate about being a guidance counselor at various schools throughout western North Dakota and Iowa. Timothy touched many lives through his work and kept in contact with students throughout the years. He remained devoted to what he loved until his final days—guiding the youth who helped him at the Care Center, offering encouragement, wisdom, and advice as they prepared for the next chapter of their lives. Timothy was a member of the American School Counselor Association.

Timothy loved the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing with his buddies. He additionally enjoyed spending time with his nephews and nieces, taking them fishing and on adventurous trips to see other family members. Timothy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He always loved a good home-cooked meal, especially "chicken on a bone."  Timothy enjoyed making and tasting different kinds of homemade deer sausages.  Timothy especially liked home-cooked meals his mother made and was always proud of her cooking, sharing that no one could cook better than her! As his mother got older and needed an extra set of hands around the house, Timothy would frequently spend time with her at her home and the care center.

Through his love for the outdoors, he always took great pride in his home and yard. He enjoyed planting many different fruit and pine trees. As his fruit trees began to bear, he loved to share his pears and apples with his family and friends.

Timothy was also a man of great faith. He spent a lot of time reading books and watching videos, always learning more to grow in his Christian Faith. His faith never wavered.

His presence and stories will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he has touched throughout his 69 years of life.

Timothy is survived by his siblings, Linda (Ed) Zimmerman, Elgin, Delmar Schaible, Mott, Beverly (Ron) Reich, Mott, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Timothy is also survived by a special friend, Marlene Kilzer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Emma, brother DeWane Schaible, and his dog Thunder.
