Obituary

Funeral services for Timothy Hillius, age 52, of Carson, ND will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Grant County Fair Building in Carson, ND. Pastor Rose Trenbeath will officiate with burial in the Carson Community Cemetery.

Timothy D. Hillius was born at Elgin, ND on April 4, 1959, to David and Norma (Kramer) Hillius. He was baptized and confirmed at the Bethesda Lutheran Church. He attended country school through the fourth grade at Cowan School and graduated from Elgin Public School in 1977. He married Rhonda Westphal on April 29, 1978.

They began their married life in Lemmon, SD with Tim working as a meat cutter for Lynn's Super Value. They moved to Mandan, ND in 1979 where Tim continued his meat cutting career at M & W Meat Packers. Their first son, Benjamin was born in 1981, and Tim took a break from meat cutting and went to work on the oil rigs in northwestern North Dakota. They moved back to Mandan and he continued meat cutting at M & W. He later managed the meat department at Randy's Super Valu in New Salem, ND.

In 1983 Tim and Rhonda purchased the Metz Meat Market in Carson, ND and turned it into a thriving business known as Dakota Country Meats. Their daughter, Nicole, was born in 1983, and another son, Beau in 1986. They sold their business in 1991 and Tim began Hillius Trucking which started out with one stackmover truck and expanded along with the addition of his two sons into the business.

Tim's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially the two newest members, grandson Trey and granddaughter Callie. He looked forward to Sundays when he could entertain the whole family around the table with grilled steak. Tim took great joy in getting together with his family and friends for winter snowmobiling, and he always looked forward to their annual deer hunting adventures. Tim and Rhonda spent many miles together traveling to look at trucks and stopping at casino's and antique shops along the way.

Tim passed away on early Saturday morning, July 30, 2011 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Carson, ND.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rhonda, Carson, ND; three children, Ben and special friend Krystle, Carson, ND, Nicole and her husband Wyatt Mollman, Morristown, SD and Beau and his wife Brooke, Carson, ND; two grandchildren, Trey and Callie Mollman; his parents, David and Norma Hillius, Leith, ND; one brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Sheila Hillius, Elgin, ND; one sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Ronnie Fischer, Elgin, ND; his mother-in-law, Barb Westphal, Morristown, SD; two brothers-in-law, Mike and Ann Westphal, Boise, ID and Charlie and Deb Westphal, Morristown, SD; his special companion, Spud; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
