Terry Skretteberg passed away Feb 5, 2026 at West River Hospital at Hettinger ND at the age of 80.

Terrance "Terry" Lee Skretteberg was born on Aug 23, 1945 to Alvin Skretteberg and Faye Skretteberg at Shadehill S.D. and grew up on the family farm.

Terry attended elementary at Shadehill country school till the 8th grade then attended High School in Lemmon, SD and graduated in 1963. After graduation he attended the National College of Business in Rapid City and Mechanic School in Fargo N.D.

In 1966 he enlisted in the Army and served 2 yrs in the US Army till 1968. Terry remained active in the American Legion all these years holding numerous positions.

After discharge Terry drove truck for several trucking companies, enjoying seeing the country from the cab of a semi.

When his Dad died in 1972 Terry returned to the family farm.

Terry married Nancy Zimmerman of Lemmon Oct 28, 1972. They continued on the farm until Terry's health forced them to sell the family farm in 2006.

He then went to work and help out local farmers until his employment as a Crop Adjuster which he enjoyed helping fellow farmers and ranchers.

Terry loved life, family and friends – and of course he never met a stranger (Nancy always said he'd talk to a fence post if it would listen).

Terry loved adventure, traveling, visiting with family, friends, and often strangers who would soon become friends.

Terry's favorite pastime was joking, teasing, laughing and making someone's day better. His passion for life, his generous spirit, and his ability to make every person feel welcome will be deeply missed.

Terry is survived by sister Cheryl Michael, nephews, Greg Michael, Jeff Steinberg (daughters Arianna Steinberg, Erika Steinberg), Justin  (Melinda) Michael,  (son Caden Michael, daughter Camry Michael), nieces Theresa (Todd) Arthur son Devon), Mandy Michael, Michele (Bob) McLaughlin, son Adam, daughter Paige and Special Friend, Teresa Uptergrove.  Terry had numerous cousins, friends and extended family who he loved all deeply.

Terry was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, parents Alvin and Faye Skretteberg, parent-in-laws Marlin  and Irene Morris, brother in law Royce Michael, sister in law Jane Haney, Ray Gaugler.

"You left your mark on our heart –
You will be missed!"
