Terry Gravning, age 80, of Hettinger, ND, passed away at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.

Funeral services for Terry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the Centennial Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger, ND.  Following a time of luncheon, burial will be held at the Richland Cemetery north of Hettinger, ND.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a family and friends service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Centennial Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger, ND.

Melvin Terry Gravning was born on May 9, 1942 to Melvin and Thelma (Reyerson) Gravning. He was born at home on the family farm and delivered by Dr. Dash. He attended country school and was taught by his mother. As a child he was a hard worker and helped his father on the farm. Terry loved animals and had a gift for working with them, in particular, he was an avid horseman.

Terry met Myrna Meisner, the love of his life, in elementary school and they were married June 5, 1960. They were together until Myrna's death in 2020.Terry and Myrna made their home on the family farmstead north of Hettinger ND where Terry was a third generation farmer and where they raised their two sons Greg and Brian. Terry was a dedicated farmer, but primarily he loved to spend time with his family. In addition, he liked to read, go snowmobiling and travel.

Terry had a quiet disposition that encased a heart of gold. He would help any neighbor or relative in need, whether it required working in someone's fields or caring for a loved one. It gave him joy to help, Terry passed away at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND on September 26, 2022 with family at his side.

He was preceded in death by his wife Myrna, sons Greg and Brian, brother-in-law Earl Lynn Meisner, parents and grandparents.

Terry is survived by his brother Carmen (Shirley) Gravning (Grand Forks, ND), sister-in-law Charlotte (Harry) Tatro (Forsyth,MT), sister-in-law Neva Meisner (Loveland, CO), daughter-in-law Libby Gravning (Bismarck, ND), grandchildren Gabriel (Stephanie) Gravning (Mandan, ND), Amanda Gravning (Mandan, ND), Paige (Brandon) Byler (Fredonia, PA) Kaycee (Jaren Olson) Schwind (Morgantown, WV), Jacob Gravning, (Minneapolis, MN), great grandchildren Abram, Madalynn, Abigail, Charleigh, Micah and Ruth and several nieces and nephews.
