Sonya Jo Armbrust, age 51 of Hettinger, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 at her home in Hettinger, ND. Our angel got her wings.

A Family gathering will be held from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger and then all friends and family may gather at the Hettinger Cemetery at 2:00pm for the graveside service. (bring a chair for the 30 minute service)

Serving as casketbearers are Keith and Tanner Rummel, Peyton Erickson, Wade Henderson, John Wolf, and Alex Stafford.

Sonya Jo Armbrust was born April 19 ^th , 1969 in Dickinson, North Dakota to Linda and Jerry Rummel. She grew up in Richardton North Dakota and graduated from Richardton-Taylor High School in 1987. She went on to graduate as a Veterinary Technician from NDSU in 1990 and completed her Paramedic training in 2001.

Sonya was a paramedic for West River Health Services Ambulance for several years, worked at Western Dakota Pork and was a Vet Tech at West River Vet Clinic until her health made her retire.

Sonya loved animals, especially cats, and people. Every life was worth saving to her and that's why we have a one-eyed cat and rescued abused animals in our household. She cared for everyone and everything with all her heart. Her children meant the world to her. Tickle-torture times with the kids, bedtime stories, bunny and barbie cakes, bowling, fishing, hair and nail dates with Danielle and Ciera at The Wildflower Beauty Co in Lemmon and spending time on the lake with Jonathan and Steph. Playing with the grandchildren brought her great pleasure and their newest, Evelyn Jo, made Sonya's and Dave's eyes twinkle.

Sonya and David met at the Vet Clinic and were married several months later. In their trucking days, they traveled through most of the United States hauling everything from honeybees to equipment. Many good times were had until her cancer diagnosis kept her at home, the bumpy roads didn't feel very good anymore.

So thankful Sonya was part of their lives are her husband David Armbrust; children, Jay & Ashlee Nelson, Jonathan Schinzel & Steph Lorentzen, Danielle Erickson & Kale Havelka, and Ciera Lee; grandchildren Vaeda, Kason, Kade, Harrison & Evelyn Jo; siblings Keith Rummel, Lacy & Brian Kutz & Lindsey Rummel; god children Tanner Rummel and Peyton Erickson; parents Richard & Linda Schell and Jerry Rummel; parents-in-law Bonnie Armbrust and Roger Meschke and many aunts, uncles and cousins along with good friends Angela Freed, Lisa Henderson, Vic Wolf and Mellissa Stafford.

Awaiting Sonya in heaven were all her grandparents, her brother Justin Rummel, Uncle William and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and many special pets.
