Sidney "Sid" Colville, longtime Cedar River, ND area rancher passed away at the Sanford Health Hospital in Bismarck, ND on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Visitation and Gathering of Family and Friends will be Tuesday, June 2, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. MT at Bethesda Lutheran Church, in ND, north of Morristown, SD and one hour prior to the Funeral, scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. MT at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon, SD.  Rev. Bethany Haberstroh and Tim Holdahl, SAM, will officiate and following a time of fellowship and lunch at the Church in Lemmon, burial will follow at the Morristown Cemetery, Morristown, SD.

Sidney Alister Colville was born in McIntosh, S. D. on Oct. 6th 1936 to Alister & Edith (Kempton) Colville. Sid attended Grade school in Morristown, S. D. He graduated class of 1955 in Lemmon, S. D. After graduation he returned to the ranch on the Cedar River and ranched with his parents. Sid married Mertice (Thysell) Colville on June 14, 1959. Two sons were born to this union, Michael & Wade. Sid continued ranching and Mert taught school. During down times at the ranch Sid would drive truck for Stewart Trucking. Sid likes rodeos, he loves socializing and dancing, and getting together with neighbors to work cattle. He was always happy to help the neighbors with anything they needed.

Sid was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and later Bethesda Lutheran Church. Sid and Mert moved to Bismark in Sept. 2017 to seek medical treatment. Returning to the ranch on the Cedar River on weekends.

Sid passed away peacefully at the Sanford Health Hospital in Bismark, N. D. on Tuesday May 26, 2026. Grateful for having shared his life is his wife, his son Mike (Kim) Colville, and his 2 granddaughters Sydney Heier and Jessica Colville.
