Shirley Wilcox, 66, of Aurora, IL passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family.

She was born July 15, 1942 in Lemmon, SD, the daughter of August and Lorraine (Stelmack) Sonn. She graduated from Lemmon High School in 1959.

Shirley graduated from the Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN. She worked as a lab technician and went into medical research in California and Illinois.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and being so involved in her granddaughter's school activities.
Shirley was a gourmet cook and had a special talent for decorating her home. She loved holiday's and always made them special for all her family. She truly cherished her family and friends.

Shirley was such a loving and compassionate person, always putting everyone else first.

Keeping her in their most precious memories are her husband, Donald Wilcox; son Jeffrey Green; granddaughter, Amy Green all of Aurora; brothers, Michael (Penny) Sonn of San Jose, CA, Roger (Sherrie) Sonn of Hettinger, ND, David (Vicky) Sonn of Lemmon, SD; sisters, Linda (Jim) Nehl of Keldron, SD and Mary Lee Hathaway of Bison, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Lorraine Sonn of Lemmon, SD.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2008, at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon with Deacon Bill Dustman, officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon.

A get together for family and friends will be held in Bison following the burial at Greenhill Cemetery.
