Mott

Obituary

Sharon Kaye Burruss, age 75 of Mott, ND, passed away with her family at her side, on Saturday morning, December 5, 2020 at her home in Mott.

Cremation has taken place, and a private memorial will be held in the near future, with close friends and family.

Sharon was born July 2, 1945 in Fort Collins, CO to Ernest and Bertha (Hansen) Conklin of LaPorte, CO.  She lived on a farm and worked very hard, the sixth of eight children. Her siblings were Lela, Laverne, Arlene, Myrna, Elaine, Leo, and Robert.  When Sharon was 15 years old she lost her mom to breast cancer.

After graduating from Cache La Poudre High School in LaPorte, CO, Sharon married George Burruss on October 6, 1963. They moved to Granby, CO, and after being there for about a month Sharon said it was so boring and with nothing to do, so they moved to Fremont, CA in the Bay Area in late November 1963.

Sharon had her first child Michelle in January 1966, and Valerie in March 1968. After 10 years in Fremont, CA, they moved to South Lake Tahoe, CA in 1973. Sharon had Bonnie in February 1974, Stephanie in February 1976, and finally Benjamin, in September 1978.

George and Sharon moved to Gardnerville, NV in the Carson Valley in 1993 and then back to Fremont, CA in the Bay Area. They lived for a short time in San Diego, CA and retired to Cameron Park, CA.  They eventually moved to Mott, ND in 2010.

Sharon at a young age, was curious and interested in knowing about everything, how and why, and what was, and how it happened. She also wanted to know what was on the other side of the Rocky Mountains, and that is why she ended up in California. She was an avid reader, historian and researcher. Her brothers and sisters would talk to her about their history, and all the other things she learned.

She was a fun loving, kind, and wonderful mother, wife, and grandmother.   Sharon didn't have a bad thing to say about anyone and she was loved by her whole family very much.

Sharon is survived by her husband George of Mott, and children Michelle Nicholson, Valerie Federighi, Bonnie Burruss, Stephanie Solley, Benjamin Burruss;  grandchildren James, Mercedes, Melissa, and Aaron Nicholson, Malia Burruss, Haley Solley, Lee Federighi, and Charlotte Solley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lela Morgan, and her brothers Laverne, Leo, and Robert Conklin.
