Shannon Lee Hothem was born August 29, 1973 in Powell Wyoming. He was the son of Dennis and Linda (Williams) Hothem. Shannon grew up in Belle Fourche and graduated from the Belle Fourche High School in 1992. He had many hobbies including playing piano, drums, art, but his passion was computers. From a young age he had an overwhelming fascination for computers which led him to an internship with the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, after his graduation from high school. In the fall of 1992 he attended the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City for more than three years. He lived in Denver CO where he worked for several companies, including US West and Centura Healthcare Systems. This past winter he moved to Sherman Oaks California where he was the Project Manager with the Pixar Animation Studios, a division of Walt Disney Pictures. His list of accomplishments is long, including the ability to read and write 18 different computer languages.

Shannon was a kind and loving son, brother, and companion. He "collected people". If ever a friend was in need, he was there for them. Shannon impacted the lives of all who knew him by his generous and gentle spirit. He loved his family and he held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. He was never afraid to act like a kid whenever the occasion arose. Shannon touched many lives and he will truly be missed.
