Serena G. Cundall age 87 of Spearfish (formerly Glendo WY), died Friday January 5, 2007 at the Spearfish Regional Hospital in Spearfish.

The funeral service will be held 10:30 am Tuesday January 9th at the St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Glendo Wyoming. Interment will be held in the Glendo City Cemetery. Arrangements are with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, SD where an online guestbook is available at www.funeralhomeofthenorthernhills.com. Memorials are preferred to the Glendo Ambulance Fund.

Serena Gertrude Brewer was born September 30, 1919 in Villisca, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ivan and Gertrude (Darnold) Brewer. Serena spent her first fifteen years in Villisca and then moved with her family to Glendo Wyoming in 1935. She graduated from Glendo High School in 1936.

On July 16, 1938 Serena married George William Cundall in Harrison, Nebraska. To this union two sons were born, Dale George and Johnny Dean.

Serena loved her cats, birds, gardening, sewing, and writing songs and numerous poems. She won many ribbons at county and state fairs through the years. She delivered mail for many years in the rural Glendo area and was active in several organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary, Singing Sals, and Extension Club. In 1993, her husband of more than 50 years died. And for the past two years, Serena has lived at the Garden Hills Assisted Living Center in Spearfish SD.

Serena is survived by her sons, Dale (Lanelle) Cundall of Belle Fourche SD, Dean (Jennie) Cundall of Glendo WY; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 4 step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Dale Brewer; and sister, Florence Manton.
