Sally
Werre
Nov 5, 1950 — Jan 10, 2024
Elgin
Our Beloved Mother, Sally Lois (Smith) Werre, Past this life Wednesday, January 10th at the age of 73 at Mile Bluff Medical Center Mauston, WI
Private family burial was held at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Elgin, ND.
Sally was born to Evelyn and Juniss (June) Smith at the Owensboro Daviss county hospital in Kentucky on November 5th 1950 and grew up in the Newman and Owensboro area.
She married Leonard "Babe" Werre in December of 1998. They happily lived in Elgin, ND where they loved each other deeply and were inseparable.
A few years after babe's passing Sally moved to Mandan ND where she spent most of her time shopping at Walmart, never missing bingo, and attending church services where she found friends, love, and acceptance.
In the past, Sally was an avid book reader, loved painting, and making needle work gifts for family and friends. Her favorite artist was Thomas Kincaid. Sally also spent her time volunteering at various functions, helping her friends and neighbors, and offering kindness to all she encountered. But most of all, she treasured her time with her family.
When she was in her early teens, she was a volunteer candy striper at a hospital. And when she had her eldest daughter(Rachelle) she had her first paying job as a CNA to support them both.
Sally majored in English when she went to college and that led her to becoming not only a typesetter and graphic artist but also the owner of a small business in her early twenties. Over the years Sally had various jobs as the only typesetter and graphic artist at printing companies both in California and Utah, and then retiring from the Grant County News in Elgin, ND as a Reporter.
In October of 2023 Sally moved to Charlestown, IN to live with family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband "Babe", three brothers, one sister, and one grandson.
Sally is survived by two daughters Rachelle Vigil of Minneapolis, MN, and Cecilya Gibbs of Charlestown, IN. And the twinkle of her eyes were her five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces, nephew, several cousins, and many friends she adored.
Momma was and is deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all, especially her family. But we take comfort in knowing she is finally with the Lord in peace and happiness.
