Funeral services for Ruby M. Pahl, age 83 of New Leipzig, will be held at 10:30am Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the New Leipzig Baptist Church. Pastor Al Gaines will officiate with burial in the New Leipzig Baptist Cemetery.


A family service will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday evening at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin.


Special music will be provided by Irene Kallis, Floyd and Shirley Roehl.


Serving as Honorary Casketbearers are her great grandchildren, Benjamin and Alexander Huber, Carter Wells, Taylee and Kylie Dartt. Active Casketbearers are her grandchildren, Jamie Pahl, Bobbi and BJ Dartt, Jason and Maira Huber, Rebecca and Jason Wells, and Katelyn Pahl.


RUBY MARGARET HUBER was born December 22, 1926 at Bentley, ND to Gottlieb and Emily (Rieger) Huber. She grew up and attended school at Bentley, graduating from the ND Division of Independent Study. Ruby taught school in Bentley for several years. On September 7, 1947, Ruby and Elmer A. Pahl promised to love and honor each other until death would part them at a marriage ceremony at the New Leipzig Baptist Church. They began their life together on the Pahl family farm north of New Leipzig. Over the years they continued to expand their farming operation. Three children, Donnel, Russell, and Reginald were born to this union. In 1976, Ruby and Elmer moved into New Leipzig.


Her husband Elmer passed away on September 16, 2005. She continued to live in her home until her health began to fail. She resided at the Golden Living Center in Pierre from July 2008 to February 2009, when she moved into the Jacobson Memorial Care Center. She passed from this life there on Friday evening, November 5, 2010 at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 13 days.


She was a member of the New Leipzig Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting, and gardening.


Surviving family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Donnel and Jerry Huber, Jamestown, ND; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Arta Pahl, Pierre, SD; Reginald and Amy Pahl, New Leipzig, ND; 5 grandchildren, Jamie Pahl, Bobbi (BJ) Dartt, Jason (Maira) Huber, Rebecca (Jason) Wells, and a special granddaughter, Katelyn Pahl; 5 great grandchildren, Benjamin and Alexander Huber, Carter Wells, Taylee and Kylie Dartt; 3 sisters, Estrella Huber, New Salem, ND; Betty Huber, Dickinson, ND; and Marcy (Curt) Donner, New Salem, ND; and four nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Gottlieb and Emily Huber, her husband, Elmer, and one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Della Huber.


Visitation will be Wednesday, 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin and on Thursday one hour prior to services at the New Leipzig Baptist Church.
