Obituary

Rory Stevens, age 56, of Lemmon, SD, passed away at his home on November 21, 2022.

The Rosary Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. all on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon, SD.  Fr. Adam Hofer will officiate with burial at a later date.

Rory Dean Stevens was born November 29, 1965 to Roberta Jean (Clifft) and Gary Vincent Stevens.  Gary passed away August 29, 1968 and Roberta was later married to Noel L Mitchell.   After graduating from Lemmon High School, Rory completed a diesel mechanic degree from WyoTech in Laramie, WY.  Rory worked on the family ranch for a while after graduation, then went on to work for Jim Miller Construction out of Isabel, SD, until 1994 when he moved back home to take over the ranch, after an accident that left Noel unable to continue actively ranching.  May 18, 2001, he married Valene (Carda).  Rory and Valene have two sons Will & Jim that also work on the family ranch (when not in school).  Rory was very proud of his boys and the men they have become.

Rory enjoyed people and especially loved teasing them, but he was also always there to lend a helping hand if someone needed it.  He was very proud of the ranch and his family meant everything to him.  He had an abundance of friends and enjoyed having get-togethers at his house.

Grateful for having shared his life are Valene, his sons, Will and Jim, his sisters Tori Kling, Lemmon, Rhonda (Gary) Reiser, Brownlee NE, brother Justin Mitchell, McIntosh, SD.  He is also survived by nieces: Alix & Dani Kling, Taylor Reiser, Jessica (Deandre) Caldwell, Jennifer (Jordan) Rabern & KaLee Mitchell, and nephews Gustave (Caycee Fackler) & Ted Reiser, Brayden and Devin Mitchell along with several great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunt Cindy Hetzel and cousin Brent Schafer.
