Funeral services for Roger Rosenow, age 82, longtime Reeder, ND, area farmer and rancher will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Reeder, ND, with Pastor Debbie Molbert officiating.  Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.  Military honors will be afforded by the Carl Hendrickson American Legion Post #51 of Reeder, ND, and the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard of Sturgis, SD.

Roger Ruggles Rosenow was born in Reeder, ND, on May 25, 1937, to Eddie and Alvina (Lutz) Rosenow.  He attended grade school and
graduated from Reeder High School in 1955.

Following his schooling he drove truck for a few months before enlisting in the United States Army on January 11, 1956.  He spent six years total in the military; three in the US Army, one year in the Army National Guard and two in the Army Reserves.  Roger was a stenographer in the service spending time in Indiana and the Alaskan Territory. Following his discharge Roger began a 15 year career at the Farmers Union Oil Service Station in Reeder.  After his time there, he began working on the farm with his parents.

Roger was united in marriage to Maxine Archibald on December 21, 1957 in Hettinger, ND.  To this union three children were born: Debby, Kem and Dion.  Roger and Maxine farmed and ranched together for over 60 years.  And during 40 of those years they operated a dairy operation alongside their cattle and farming programs.

Roger loved to travel with Maxine and they enjoyed their trips to Nashville, TN, Branson, MO, Oregon and Mexico.  He was a hard worker and loved spending time in the tractor while working the ground whether it was haying or harvesting time.

Roger passed away on Tuesday morning, February 25, 2020 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, Reeder, ND; children, Debby (John) Soreide, Bowman, ND, Kem (Mark) Huisman, Bismarck, ND, and Dion (Tracy) Rosenow, Reeder, ND; nine grandchildren, Brent (Jenna) Mrnak, Andy (Jaci) Mrnak, Crystal, Tanya and Andy Huisman, Shaun (Stephanie) Bonomo, Chris (Renu) Eide, Matt (Melissa) Soreide, and Kristy (Tyler) VanDaele; 11 great-grandchildren, Layton, Bennett, Vance and Ellise Mrnak, Caiden Huisman, Sloan Mrnak, Ryan Eide, Emy and Ady VanDaele and Gage and Logan Soreide; one sister, Donna (Rick) Clement, Jacksonville, OR; one niece, Kori (Steve) Woski; and one nephew, Patrick (Robin) Clement.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and one aunt, Bertha Lutz.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a family service at 6:00 p.m. all on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Centennial Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger, ND.
