Funeral Services for Roger Mosley, age 63, of Custer, SD, formerly of Rapid City and Lemmon, SD will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Spencer Memorial Presbyterian Church in Lemmon. Pastor Webster P. Brower will officiate with burial in the Rosebud Cemetery near Shadehill, SD.


A family service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning, June 22, 2009 at the Spencer Memorial Presbyterian Church.


Special music will be provided by Marilyn Willey.


Serving as casketbearers are Jim Miller, Lester Longwood, Rick Engle, Ben Weishaar, Art Pederson, Steve Sandgren, and Wayne Barnes. All friends and relatives are considered Honorary Bearers.


ROGER WILLIAM MOSLEY was born October 6, 1945 in Hettinger, ND to Robert William and Laura May (Trogstad) Mosley. He grew up in Lemmon and graduated from Lemmon High School in 1963. Roger joined the Army National Guard in 1963 and worked on numerous projects including the Rapid City Flood in 1972. Following high school, he was employed with Braught's Super Value. He also began farming with his father and grandfather on a place near Shadehill.


On October 25, 1969, Roger was united in marriage to Joyce Finney in Jefferson, WI. They farmed, ranched, and raised their two sons John and Wade on the place near Shadehill. He also worked for area farmers and ranchers and drove school bus for the Lemmon School District for 17 years. In 1991, they moved into Lemmon where Roger and Joyce began managing the Budget Inn Motel. They moved to Rapid City in 1998 where they managed the Budget Inn Motel there until it was sold in 2003. They moved to Custer where Roger began working at Lynn's DakotaMart.


In July of 2008, he was diagnosed with two different types of cancer. Roger passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Custer Regional Hospital in Custer.


Roger was a member of Rosebud Lutheran Church, Spencer Memorial Presbyterian Church, Canyon Lake Methodist Church, and Custer Lutheran Fellowship.


He enjoyed being outdoors bird watching, hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing cards, especially pinochle and domino's. He loved cooking and entertaining friends and family with a fish fry.


Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Joyce, Custer, SD; two sons, Wade, Rapid City, SD and John, Aberdeen, SD; his mother Laura Mosley, Lemmon, SD; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Richard Hanson, Gettysburg, SD; and one brother, Vernon Mosley, Inver Grove Heights, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Roger was preceded in death by his father, Robert Mosley on November 25, 1997.


Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2009 and 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.


A memorial has been established.
