Roger Jesch, 73 died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 21,2022. A Christian burial service is planned for Saturday, May 28th, 2022, at 10am at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Regent, ND. Burial service to follow at the Regent Cemetery with luncheon served at St. Henry's Church after. Visitation and Rosary will be held at St. Henry's Catholic Church on Friday, May 27th at 7pm.

Roger was born to John and Clara Jesch, He was 2nd in the family of four. HIs brother Bob was the oldest and then followed by Myron and Denise.  He attended country grade school in Regent for several years before going to high school in Regent, he graduated in 1966.

He met the love of his life at a high school dance in Lefor. It was Margarite's dress that caught his eye, we always knew he had a flare for fashion. He then asked her to the prom and it was the beginning of the Jesch story. Roger and Margarite (Kirshenheiter) were married September 6, 1969, at St. Elizabeth in Lefor, ND.

He then went to Dickinson State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He was a science teacher and initially taught at Trinity, followed by several years in Lemmon, SD and then Ipswich, SD. However, his true calling in life was waiting for him on a farm located 4 miles north of Regent. They moved to the farm in 1974 and live there today. There they raised their family; Scott Alan was born in 1970 and Stacey Rae was born in 1972. All together they shared the love and struggles of farm life.

Roger took farming to heart and worked very hard at it. Roger and Marg milked cows for 34 years. He raised registered Angus beef cows. He also farmed the land, growing crops of wheat and barley. Even with the busy farm life, Roger still found time to join in Regent activities. Between milking and plowing the land, he would attend his kids' sporting events. He loved to watch his son play football and both his son and daughter play basketball. He even judged his daughters winning Science Fair Project. She was 'daddy's girl'. The farm may have kept Roger busy both day and night but his love and patience for his kids always took precedence. He was proud of his kids.

Roger and Marg enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, enjoying a cold beer or simply visiting. As many knew, Roger loved to talk and could visit with a friend or salesman for hours and hours. Even though Roger wasn't officially on the Lefor pool team, he attended most every tournament and became the official pool team cheerleader.

Roger was a lifetime member of St. Henry's Catholic Church as well as the Regent Knights of Columbus. He was a Grand Knight and even earned Grand Knight of the Year as well as Family of the year.  Roger also continued his love of teaching, he taught CCD classes to the youth of Regent.  Rogers' faith was strong, he prayed the rosary every night. It may have taken him a few hours to do it as he kept falling asleep, but he wouldn't let a night go without getting in the rosary and many intentions. I have no doubt that many of you were on Roger's prayer list.

After he sold the cows, Roger always dreamed of 'making it big', so an occasional lottery ticket or trip with Maggie to Prairie Knights helped pass away the sometimes long quiet days on the farm. Until the grandkids would come and visit, then his world was complete. Roger was blessed with 6 grandkids and 1 great grandchild. His love for those kids was beyond measure. They will all miss one of Grandpa's hugs, as it wasn't an option when visiting him.

Roger's other pastimes included watching Gunsmoke or Hallmark movies at Christmas, buying tools that he "needed", a trip to Dickinson with his 'girlfriend' Margarite for an Arby's sandwich, shooting guns with Hannah and Anakin, teaching all the grandkids to drive the pickup, arguing with Trinity, listening to Charlie Pride with Emilee and playing Rummy with Jordan.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Margarite. She will miss him dearly. His Son, Scott (and Karrie Jesch), Daughter, Stacey (and Kelley Miller). 6 grandkids- Melina, Anakin, Trinity, Jordan (and Carly), Emilee, Hannah and great grandson- Jaxson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Jesch,
