A memorial service for Roger Harmon, age 86, of New Salem, formerly Carson, North Dakota will be held at 2:00 PM, CT, Thursday January 16, 2020 at the Chapel in the Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, North Dakota.    Pastor Edwin Zimmerman will officiate and burial will take place in the Lark cemetery at a later date.  Music will be provided by Patsy Hertz and Jackie Stewart.

Roger Harmon passed away January 9, 2020 at Sanford Health in Bismarck after a short serious illness.  Roger was born on the Harmon homestead 3 miles east of Carson June 4, 1933 to Floyd and Nellie (Martin) Harmon.  He was raised on the farmstead until 1950 when the family moved to Carson.  Roger graduated from Carson High School in 1951.  Over the years he spent time working in his father's gas station, mother's creamery, Soil Conservation Office, sewer pumping business, drove school bus for 27 years and was a custodian for various businesses in the Carson area for many years.

Roger met the love of his life, Mary Jane Lane, on a blind date set up by his roller skating friends Ed and Sharie Egli of New Salem.  After retirement Roger enjoyed putting together history articles for former residents of the Grant County area.  He spent many years cataloging all the public and private cemeteries located in Grant County.

Roger is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Jane, New Salem, North Dakota.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Nellie and sister Peggy Kuntz.

Any memorials can be donated to the Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, North Dakota in his honor.
