Rodney (Rod)
Craig Anderson
Feb 13, 1959 — Dec 5, 2024
Bismarck
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 25, 2025 at 11am at the Legion in Lemmon, SD, with a luncheon to follow.
Rodney "Rod" Craig Anderson was born on February 13, 1959 to William and Lorraine (Osier) Anderson. He was the second of three boys. He was born in Britton, SD. Growing up Rod lived and attended school in the Sheldon, ND area.
He met and married Rosie College. A daughter, Tracey Jo, was born from this union. He later met and married Desirae (Petersen, Wilson) on October 15, 1994. Three children, Ryan Craig, Aaron Matthew, and Jecoliah Michal were born to this union. Rod also helped raise her two daughters, Misty Jade and Alexis (Lexi) Shai, loving all of them as his own.
Rod was a jack of all trades, having numerous different jobs to support his family, from the railroad, farm and ranch positions, lineman, to workover and drilling rigs. Rod loved people, animals, and the outdoors; but his family way his greatest joy. He loved spending time with those he called "friend" and any opportunity he had with family during special gatherings, holidays, and summertime at the lake. Rod was known as a quiet, gentle, and kind soul who always had time for people in need, giving everything he had to help them out. Rod suffered from a lot of emotional pain in his life, losing both his parents during his early teen years and his older brother when Rod was a young adult. In 2007 while working the derriks for Nabors Drilling. Rod had a serious accident that left him disabled and in constant pain for years, but he persevered and "pushed" through it all. He loved Jesus Christ and knew him as his personal Lord and Savior. He was baptized in 2013 with his two youngest children, when they gave their lives to the Lord.
Rod suffered many more injuries through the next few years and his health continued to decline, despite his "toughness" and "will" to regain health. Rod was eventually diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsey, a rare neurological disease with no cure or even effective treatment. This disease steals your ability to move your eyes, to bend your neck, to swallow, and to talk. Because of this, Rod began having frequent falls, sustaining serious injuries; including deep brain bleeds. Although his disease isolated him from people and his loved ones. Rod never complained of his illness and he kept going until he couldn't go anymore. Rod passed away on December 5th, 2024 at the age of 65 years. He left this world in Bismarck, ND with all of his family at his bedside.
Grateful for having shared his life are all his family and friends, as Rod made a difference in their lives. Rod is survived by his daughters, Tracey, Misty, Lexi, and Jecoliah; his sons, Ryan and Aaron; brother, Rick; 8 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins from his side and through marriage. Rod is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill.
Rod you were loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
