Rodney "Rod" Auen, age 62, Gilbert, AZ, originally from Mott, ND, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Gilbert.

Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott with Fr. Chris Kadrmas, officiating.

A Private Family Burial will be held Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott.

Following the Mass, a time of fellowship and refreshments will be held at the Pheasant Café in Mott.

Rod was born on March 10, 1959 in Elgin, ND to Myron and Marcella (Kouba) Auen. He grew up in Regent and attended school there until his junior year of high school when the family moved to Mott. Rod graduated with the class of 1977 and after graduating he attended DSC. He worked in Dickinson for a few years and then moved to Colorado in about 1986. He had a successful career as a pump engineer in Colorado for many years before moving to Arizona in 2018.

Rod greatly enjoyed the Colorado outdoors from hiking and biking to attending many sporting events. He coached youth basketball with his friend, Mike, and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity. Sports were his passion and he was a loyal fan to the Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets.

Rod made many friends in life and always spoke fondly of his closest friends. Rarely did he speak ill of anyone and had a very generous heart to those in need. His family was close to his heart, especially his nieces and nephews and their   welfare was important to him. He was loved by many and we will miss him very much.

Holding his memory forever in time are his mother, Marcella "Marcy" Auen, his sister, Cheryl (Doug) Olson, brothers,  George (Cindi) Auen, and Tim (Elaine) Auen and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his father, Myron Auen, grandparents Robert and Anna Kouba and George and Viola Auen and several aunts and uncles.

A special thank you from Rod's family to his friends in Arizona and Colorado who were a fantastic support group over the years.
