Rockland "Rocky"
Jorgensen
Feb 22, 1954 — Oct 15, 2025
Lemmon
Rocky Jorgensen, age 71, of Lemmon, SD, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 in Lemmon, SD.
Rockland Jorgensen was born on February 22, 1954, in Lemmon, SD, to Pete and Milly Jorgensen. Living on a ranch in rural Lemmon, he went to country school, then grade school in Lemmon. Later the family moved to Northome, MN, where Rocky graduated with the class of 1972. After graduation, his family moved back to Lemmon where he started seismography during the oil boom, then pipeline work, into laying fiber optic cable. Through his travels for work, he was able to experience the scenery of many states, although his love was the Black Hills of South Dakota. He and his wife of over 20 years, Lynda Ducheneaux lived there for years, until her passing in 2013. Riding horse was a passion of Rocky's and he was able to work with a trail riding place in the Black Hills and in Arizona.
Writing many poems, Rocky was a poet and didn't even know it!
Rocky meant the world to his family, and his family meant the world to him. He spent a lot of time with his nieces, nephews, and great nieces. He had an original nick-name for them all. He enjoyed watching all of them in their sports activities. Holding an extra special place in his heart were his great nieces whom he called his "GMC" girls; Sierra, Savannah and Sanoma (aka Korinna).
Rocky was the best and biggest supporter to his "GMC" girls. Always wanting to know what they were up to and what they were doing in every aspect of life. All of his nieces and nephews always held a special place in his life. He will be dearly missed.
Rocky is survived by his sister, Dawn Bohlmann, Lemmon, SD; niece (nieces to pieces) Amanda Jorgensen, Schenectady, NY; nephew (Ry-in-ski) Ryan Jorgensen (and family), Sioux Falls, SD; nephew (Bobbert) Bobby Bohlmann, Rapid City, SD; niece (Tar-a-ific) Tara Bohlmann, Rapid City, SS and great nieces (GMC Girls), Sierra Bohlmann, Savannah Rondell and Korinna Bohlmann; Uncle Drew and Aunt Sharon Rytter of Washington along with cousins Kristen and Andrea.
Rocky was preceded in death by his brother, Wade, just three weeks earlier on September 24, 2025; his wife, Lynda Jorgensen; father Pete Jorgensen, mother, Milly Neve and step-father, Chuck Neve.
There will be a gathering for a celebration of life at the American Legion in Lemmon, SD, on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to reminisce about the "Jorgensen" boys.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
