Bob Vasey was born in Mott on June 15, 1925. He was one of six children born to Louis A. and Adah (Treon) Vasey. He spent his first 15 years on the family farm helping his father. In 1945 his brother and wife, Frank and Regina, moved to the farm and he stayed and helped them for three years. He moved into Mott in 1951 and continued to help out on the farm during the summers until 1957 when he moved to Chico, California, to stay with his sister, Margie. Later that year, he moved to Red Bluff, California to be with his parents. In 1963 he and his parents moved to Salem, Oregon to be near family there. They later moved to Corvallis, Montana, to be near Bob's sister, Betty, and her family. In August of 1970 they moved back to Mott.
In 1971 Bob went to work for the Holiday House Hotel in Mott. He was the night clerk there for 5 years. Robert's mother passed away in September of 1978 and his father 5 years later. He remained at the Holiday House Hotel for eight more years until it burned. He was a resident of the Hill Top Nursing Center in Killdeer for about a year and then moved to the Mott Good Samaritan Nursing Center where he has resided since.
Robert had some physical disabilities since birth but was always very eager to help in any way that he could. He loved his nephews and nieces dearly and loved to play with them when they were small. One of his biggest joys was the 80th birthday party that his family had for him in 2005. He was a very willing helper at the Good Samaritan Center and helped out in many ways there. The family is very grateful to the staff at the Good Samaritan Center in Mott and the wonderful care he received there. He was very proud of the fact that he was a farmer and loved to talk about events from the past. He had a strong Christian faith and often talked of that faith.
