Bob was born on October 12, 1944 to Albert and Elizabeth (Mocko) Ulrich in Grant County, ND. He was raised on the family farm north of Heil, ND. He attended the ND State School for the Blind in Grand Forks, ND, graduating in May, 1965. He then attended ND State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND graduating in May, 1967 with a degree in Small Engine Mechanics for the Blind. This period of his life held many fond memories and pride for him. He returned to the farm after his college graduation and farmed with his parents and his brother Tim for many years. He moved to Elgin after his mother's death and lived there until the time of his death.
Bob was always willing to help anyone with a project, and was eager to accompany anyone on a road trip. Bob loved to socialize and could be seen every day walking up-town to meet and have a good time with family and friends. Bob was very knowledgeable and up-to-date on new products, and local and world events, getting most of this information from listening to the radio and television, as reading was a challenge for him. He enjoyed gardening and canning and learned how to cook and passed along cooking tips to his sister and nieces. He was the go-to person in our family to explain all the medical and Medicare related health plans.
Bob is survived by his brothers Rod (Evon) Ulrich and Tim Ulrich of Elgin; sisters Joyce (Jeff) Steinle and Karen (Doug) Sokolofsky of Bismarck; sisters-in-law Susan Jueth of Bismarck, Virginia Ulrich of Mandan, and Muriel Ulrich of Elgin; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Donald Ulrich and Curtis Ulrich, his half-brothers; Lee Jueth and George (Alice) Ulrich, his half-sisters; Betty (Adam) Mann and Agnes (Rollin) Balliet.
