Obituary

The Memorial Service for Robert "Bob" Starr, age 84 of Lemmon, will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon with Deacon Bill Dustman, officiating.

Robert Charles Starr was born Charles George Hausauer Jr. on December 27, 1926 in Border, TX to Charles George and Josephine (Duncan) Hausauer. During his youth, Bob was affectionately known as "Brother" by his friends and family members. Growing up during the depression, Bob's family relocated many times as they went where there was work. Because of all of the moves, Bob attended school in many states.

At age 17, with World War II in full swing, Bob joined the United States Navy and served throughout the war.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Bob moved to California to follow his dream of being in the movies. It was at this time that he changed his name to Robert Charles Starr. He was never a star, but he did have bit parts in a few western movies.

Most of Bob's adult life he worked as a heavy equipment operator on the west coast, Hawaii and Wyoming.

Upon his retirement he and his wife, Connie, moved to Copalis Beach, WA. Bob loved the ocean and especially enjoyed his time in this area of the country. Following the death of his wife, Bob relocated to Lemmon, SD.

He passed away on February 18, 2011 at Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon, SD.

Surviving family members include his two sons, John Starr, Pueblo, CO and Brian Daniel Hughes, California; two daughters, Jodi Starr Baldwin, Laurel, MT, Sabrina Starr Baldwin, Copalis Beach, WA; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ella Mae Hausauer, Lemmon, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews including, Elsie (Rudy) Sackmann, and John (Marla) Hausauer, both of Lemmon, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Connie (Gaylene Joyce George) Starr; children, Robert (Bobby) Charles Starr Jr., David Michael Starr and Teresa Louise Lee; 9 brothers and 2 sisters.
