Robert Arthur Sauer, Jr. passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of July 11, 2021 at the age of 49.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 15 at 10:30 am MT at the Grant County Fair Building in Carson, ND with Pastor Bethany Haberstroh officiating. Burial will be at Bethesda Lutheran Church Cemetery, south of Leith, ND, immediately following the funeral service.  The Funeral Service will be live streamed and you may watch it by clicking "view funeral service here" on Robert's obituary.

Visitations will be on Wednesday, July 14th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm MT at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin, ND, and one hour prior to the service at the Fair Building in Carson on Thursday morning.

Robert Arthur Sauer, Jr. was born on August 30, 1971, in Elgin, ND to Robert and Gloria Sauer. He was the third of five children and grew up on the family farm south of Carson.

Robert loved hunting, fishing, and attending rodeos, especially with his two sons. When he was not busy working on the farm, you could usually find him out on the boat, probably close to his limit of walleye. He was one of the most kindhearted, honest, and genuine people you could ever meet, and his sons and his grandson were his pride and joy.

He never walked anywhere; he was always running, and always with a smile on his face. He was a hardworking man who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. Robert most recently worked for Blue Hill Ranch and enjoyed working for them for many years. He also worked on the family farm. His previous employment included Farmers Union Oil Company in Carson, and PCI in Bismarck.

Robert is survived by his two sons, Robert Lee Sauer, Mandan, ND and Mark Sauer, Elgin, ND; his grandson, Sage Lee Sauer; parents Robert and Gloria Sauer, Carson, ND; siblings Sandra (Brian) Tibke, Carson, ND, Terry (Jenny) Sauer, Glen Ullin, ND, Connie (Calvin) Aberle, Bismarck, ND, Darcy (Jeff) Schutt, Beulah, ND; numerous nieces and nephews; and former spouse, Deanna Tomac.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Art and Clara Sauer, and George and Martha Hengel; his uncles Don Sauer, Richard Pruitt, and Clarence Schweigert; great aunt Helen Hinderer; and good friend and fishing buddy, Jim Tibke.
