Robert Emanuel Hehn was born March 15, 1953. He grew up on a farm near Leith, N.D. with his parents Werner and Nancy Hehn and his younger brother Tom. Bob attended Fischer township public school and later attended Elgin High School where he met his future wife Connie Ottmar. He graduated from Elgin High in 1971 and attended college at Minot State University on a football scholarship. He was married to Connie, August 16, 1974 and graduated from Minot in May of 1976. Bob tried his luck farming on the family farm after graduation, but soon after moved to Bismarck and he began driving as an over the road trucker. Bob and Connie had their first daughter, Andreia in Bismarck April 13, 1977 followed by a son, Kelly, August 21, 1978 and finally a daughter, Megan, April 22, 1981.
In January of 1980, Bob started roughnecking for an oil company in Western North Dakota. The family moved to Idaho in 1983 for a short time and Bob began a career as a roughneck in the oilfield. The family then moved to Casper Wyoming in 1985. Bob continued his career in the oilfield as a Driller working in the United States, United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela. Later he advanced his career as a rig consultant in Gillette Wyoming where he and Connie settled in October 2005. His greatest joys were spending time with his grandson Tye (2½ years) and his granddaughter Ryley (19 months), visiting his children from Omaha to Phoenix, and traveling weekly to meet with extended family and friends with his wife Connie always by his side.
Bob is survived by his wife Connie, his brother Tom (wife Lynn), his three children Andreia (husband Mike Nebel), Kelly (wife Lori), and Megan, and his two grandchildren Tye and Ryley Nebel.
