Richard Lincoln Wolff was born on July 19, 1928 to Christian and Elizabeth (Liecht) Wolff near Havelock, ND. He attended rural school near Havelock, ND then began helping his parents on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Georgine Nass on October 6, 1948 at Tepee Butte Lutheran Church. They resided and worked on the Wolff farm until moving to Meadow, SD in 1953. This included hay, livestock, chickens, equipment and believe it or not, this even included the kitchen sink. Richard began building his cattle herd and raising a family. To this union three children were born, Curtis, Tracy and Darlyce. Due to his declining health, in 1999 Richard moved to the Five Counties Nursing Home. His wife, Georgine, moved to Lemmon to be closer to him shortly thereafter.

He was a hard worker and enjoyed the challenges that farming and ranching brought. He was dedicated to his livestock, proven by his five mile walk in a blizzard to make sure his cattle were fed. Richard was one of the first ranchers in the area to crossbreed Angus with Hereford Livestock. Richard looked forward to long visits on the phone with his close neighbors and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was an avid musician, playing the harmonica and accordion, and attended many dances during his lifetime. Richard and Georgine waltzed and polkaed numerous miles together, a pastime that they both loved.

Richard Lincoln Wolff left us for a better place on March 6, 2010 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 17 days.

Grateful for having shared Richard's life are his wife, Georgine, Lemmon, SD; two sons, Curt (Anita) Wolff, Rapid City, SD and Tracy (Mary) Wolff, Meadow, SD; one daughter, Darlyce (Bill) Bollwerk, Rapid City, SD; nine grandchildren, Alex, Jacob and Bryant Wolff (Curt's), Whitney (fiancé Heinrich Mueller), Tharen, Christian and Lance Wolff (Tracy's), Samantha and Carlee Bollwerk (Darlyce's); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers and seven sisters.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 12, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, March 13 at the Indian Creek Lutheran Church near Meadow.
