Richard Schell, age 77, of Hettinger, ND, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger, ND.

Memorial services for Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Hettinger Lutheran Church in Hettinger, ND.   Burial will follow in the Hettinger Cemetery.

Richard Duane Schell, the son of Val and Myrtle Schell grew up in the Reeder/Hettinger area.  He graduated from Reeder High School then attended and graduated from North Dakota State University as a mechanical engineer.  GO BISON!!  Following his schooling he worked for General Electric in Cincinnati, OH, designing engine parts for jet planes.

Richard later moved back to Reeder to help his mom where he began working at American Colloid.  He also worked at Anfinson's for several years under a few different managements- now Runnings.  Richard did part-time work at Jack & Jill, Kum and Go, and Family Dollar, and surely there's some others we missed.

While at Super Pumper he met Linda.   They were united in marriage in September of 1994.   He loved fishing a drive around the lake, and eating ice cream cones, all with his newly acquired grandkids, Jonathan and Danielle.  Ciera and Tanner came along several years later.

Due to kidney disease, Richard spent a year on dialysis but was lucky enough on April 18, 2004, to receive an almost perfect match donor kidney.

Everyone knew Richard.   He often said he always had a name tag on- they didn't!  Whether they knew him as Richard or Dick, his friends and previous co-workers will miss him.

Richard thanked Linda many times for "sharing" her little family with him.  Sonya and Keith, Jonathan and Danielle; Dave, Tanner, Emily, Kale and Ciera; and 9 great-grandchildren were blessed to have Richard in their lives.  He also leaves sisters-in-law Lois, Joan and Sarah and brother-in-law Les and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard is united with his parents, Myrtle and Val; in laws, Agnes and Bill; sisters, Doreen in infancy and Gladys (Ringy); brother, Joel, daughter Sonya Jo; brothers-in-law, Bob and William; one nephew, Stacy; and numerous relatives and friends unknown to Linda.

May Richard rest in peace in Jesus's arms.
