Richard (Dick) Goodmanson of Lemmon, SD entered his heavenly home on August 7th, 2026, at the age of 83.  He passed away at the West River Regional Care Center in Hettinger,  ND, surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral services will be held on August 14, 2026 at 11:00 Mountain Time at New Hope  Worship Center in Lemmon, SD.

Richard was born on September 24, 1942 on the family farm in Sioux County.  He grew up on the family farm learning good work ethic.

He married Clara Blotsky on April  15, 1967. They met at The Hilltop Café in McIntosh, SD. Clara was excited because he gave her good tips. They raised 3 children on the farm and taught them many valuable lessons about life.

Before marrying Clara, he worked in Kellogg, Idaho in the Gold and Silver mines. Richard joined the Army on March 16, 1961 and served in the reserve for 7 years. He was active in the American Legion in Thunder Hawk, SD for 48 years, with many years serving as commander. He was active on the township board for 30 years and served 28 years as chairman.

During his time in the Dakotas, Joe Warfield and Richard owned a business named G&W Pole Barn Construction. He also sold registered charolais bulls.

Richard enjoyed playing cards, visiting with family and friends, and driving around checking on his crops and cattle.

He always looked forward to the yearly deer hunting in November with his grandchildren, nephews, son in laws and other family members and friends.

Another exciting adventure was when Layne Schoon and Richard went on an Alaskan fishing adventure in the summer of 2006.  Richard caught a halibut that weighed 219.9 pounds! They even made the local newspaper.

He enjoyed collecting antiques, coins, and watching westerns on TV.

Richard was always concerned about everyone else before himself.   Words of wisdom he told his children were to "always think before acting and to never speed."

While in the hospital, Richard spent time sharing memories he had with his siblings, grandchildren, nieces/nephews, and friends.  He also shared memories about his life and his childhood.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; Arthur & Mary Goodmanson. Siblings; Vance Goodmanson and Connie Haas.

He is survived by his wife, Clara and his 3 children. Trena (Kent) Lindemann, Rachell (Kelly) Gullickson, and Brian (Ana) Goodmanson. Grandchildren Tyler (Abby), Blake (Bobbi), Joe, Dakota, Emily, and Diana. Great grandchildren, Jaxon, Adam and Tanner.

Siblings Donna Coutts, Larry Goodmanson, Dyanne (Vern) Erickson, Sister-in-law Marion Goodmanson, and many nieces and nephews.

Richard will be remembered by many. We will love and miss you forever.
