Pastor Tottie Lenerville will officiate with burial at St. Bonaventure's Cemetery in McIntosh. Full military honors will be afforded by the Ralph T. Ankerson American Legion Post #139.
Richard "Buster" Glines Sr. was born to Harry and Ena (Hare) Glines at Mobridge, South Dakota on November 15, 1921. He attended elementary school at Walker, South Dakota, and attended high school at the Selfridge School for two years until his father got hurt and needed help on the farm. Richard later worked for the Corp of Engineers for three years, then went to Minneapolis, Minnesota and worked for a dry cleaning plant for a short time. In the spring of 1942 he returned to McIntosh, enlisted in the US Navy, and was on stand-by orders. It was here he met the love of his life, Theresa Stoick. Richard and Theresa were married on February 21, 1943, at McIntosh, South Dakota and lived three blocks west of the Legion Hall. Then on July 4, 1943, Richard was called to duty. He was stationed in New Guinea and then in Australia, and after serving for 3 years and 3 months, he was discharged from the navy in 1946.
Richard and Theresa lived in McIntosh for nine years. During that time Richard and his two brothers, Charlie and Allen, farmed with their dad on the farm near Walker. Richard then bought the farm eight miles east of McIntosh and the family moved out in February of 1953. Having ten children, Richard and Theresa were busy with farming and raising a family.
Richard really enjoyed farming and spent most of his life in the field and on the farmyard. Besides farming, Richard flew planes for a few months, and worked a few months for the railroad. He also worked one summer on highway construction near McIntosh. Somehow, he still found time to go hunting and fishing! He enjoyed quite a few fishing trips to Kennel and the Grand River. Buster truly enjoyed all the family get-togethers at the farm!
Buster passed away on early Thursday morning, February 4, 2010 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.
