Rex Joel Kelsch died on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Sanford Health-Bismarck from injuries sustained from a fall.  Rex, 83, died   with his  sister, Deanna, at his side.   Per Rex's wishes, no funeral will be held.  A graveside service will be held on  Saturday, November 16, at 11:00 MT at the Sunnyslope Cemetery in Mott with Pastor Corey Warner officiating.   Lunch will follow at the KC Hall.

Rex was born on January 23, 1941 in Glendive, MT to Joseph and Eleanor (McIntyre) Kelsch.  Rex was raised in Mott with siblings Gary and Deanna.  He graduated from Mott Lincoln High School in 1959.  After some college and two years in the army, Rex farmed and ranched with his Dad.  He had a passion for flying, did some flight instruction, and became a spray pilot.

Rex married Sharon Ulmer on December 10, 1973.  To this union a daughter, Tracey, and a son, Joel, were born.

Rex is survived by his wife, Sharon, children Tracey (James) Johnson, Mott, and son, Joel, Mott,  and grandchildren Jamison and Bailey Johnson.  He is also survived by his brother, Gary, Richardton, ND, and his sister, Deanna (Doug) Johnson, Bismarck,  ND and their children Katie, Jason, Tyler, Stofor and families.   He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends he considered family.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Eleanor, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the Mott Ambulance, Mott Fire Brigade, Zoar Congregational Church, or Taylor Skartvedt Legion Post 71.
