Rebecca "Becky" Craig Belle Fourche, SD
Memorial Services for Rebecca "Becky" Craig, 68, of Belle Fourche will be held at 2pm Tuesday November 30th, 2004 at the Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Pastor Art Weitschat will officiate.
Rebecca Jane Craig was born July 14th, 1936 in Jamestown, New York to Raymond and Ruth VanderKooi. In 1977 she and her family moved to Irene, SD where she worked as a dietician at the Wakonda Nursing Home. She and her family moved to Belle Fourche in 1987. She worked various jobs in the area, including the Belle Fourche Long Term Care Center, the Super 8, and as the manager of the King's Inn. She was instrumental in founding the "Advocate House", a shelter for battered women and their children. She also volunteered at the Belle Fourche Community Action Team distributing clothing to needy families.
Becky loved cats, both her own and the ones she would "adopt" by leaving milk in bowls outside of the motel. She also loved her extended adopted family and made all of the children she took care of feel special.
She especially loved the chaos of "Rally Week" and looked forward to reuniting with old friends and meeting new ones. She collected "Harley Shirts" from all over the country.
A woman of many talents, Rebecca Craig passed away Friday morning, November 26th, 2004 in Belle Fourche.
