The Memorial Service for Raymond S. Newell Jr., age 64 of Billings, MT will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Lemmon, SD with Pastor Audie Brockel, officiating.

A private family burial will be held in Greenhill Cemetery.

Serving as Honorary Bearers are Rusty Brown, John Boselman, Danny Ankram, Rosco Hansen, Ron (Red) Cain, and Danny Corcoran.

RAYMOND S. NEWELL JR "Little Ray" to his many friends, was born on June 26, 1957 in Hettinger, ND.  He was the sixth child born to Raymond (Bud) Sr. and Hazel (LaRue) Newell.  He grew up in Lemmon where he attended school.  At age 16, he began trucking for Corcoran Trucking out of Lemmon and Billings, MT. Over the course of his many years of truck driving, he had driven coast to coast and into Canada.  Driving a big truck was his passion.

Little Ray worked in Mobridge and Aberdeen for a short time selling cars for Newell's Used Cars and then in Aberdeen for Viking Glass and Todd's Mobile where he did mechanic work.  He also worked for Lien Construction in Aberdeen and GW Trucking in Lemmon for a short time.

The past few years he was self-employed in Billings where he did tree trimming and other handy-man work.

He was a member of the Road Dogs Motorcycle Club; never missing a Toy's For Tot's run. He loved kids. He loved to play pool and darts, play the poker machines and fishing.

There is no doubt Little Ray touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.

Surviving family members include his son, Justin; daughter, Sarah; his siblings, Gary (Connie) Newell, Tea, SD; Dennis (Donna) Newell, Billings, MT; Susan (Garry) Johnson, Lemmon, SD; Floyd (Aurora) Newell, Billings, MT; Sandy (Ken) Paulson, Lemmon, SD; Debbie (Terry) Reister, Wilbur, WA; Pam (Brad) Hatle, Shadehill, SD; Bill (Leigh) Newell, Billings, MT; Donna Dauwen, Lemmon, SD; Special Friend, Bobbi Grinsteiner, Billings, MT; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Roni Sue Newell; and 2 nephews, Jerimia Johnson, and Leon Paulson; and a niece, Wendy Newell.
