Raymond Solomon Karl Bieber was born July 9, 1931 on the family farm located northeast of Mott in Beery Township to Fred and Luisa (Kappas) Bieber. Ray drifted into paradise on November 27 after injuries from a fall at home. He was the youngest of eight children with one brother and six sisters.
While in high school he excelled in sports with basketball being his favorite. Ray married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Jean Swindler on July 14, 1952 and they settled on a farm two miles southwest of Mott. He was drafted into the Army in February 1952 during the Korean Conflict. His military stop was Germany for eighteen months with an engineering platoon.
He started farming and ranching after serving his country. Bonnie and Ray raised three sons: Mark, Timothy, Brian and Charlotte Fiedler their "adopted" sister. They all grew up loving to work beside their dad.
Ray was active in community and church affairs always striving to make the world a better place. He was on many local and state boards during his lifetime. He served on the Mott Lincoln School Board for 14 years (initiated the special education program), 10 years as a Hettinger County Commissioner, 21 years on the Southwest Water Authority, SW Multi-County Correctional Center and the Hettinger County Water Board. As a Jaycee he won both state and national awards and was offered an opportunity to be on National Jaycee Board. Other activities included Jacobson Memorial Hospital Board, Elks, Masons, and Shriners. After discharge from the Army, he became a member of the American Legion; he was commander and later chaplain. His highest mission was being a part of the Honor Guard, prayer detail and firing squad.
They became snow birds traveling the south and settling at Rancho Casa Blanca in Indio, CA. He was a competitor and loved golfing; he had seven holes-in-one to his credit. They had the opportunity to travel extensively covering every state, Australia, New Zealand, Danube River Cruise, Alaskan Cruise, and his favorite, the Panama Canal Cruise.
Ray was a wonderful man of the generation that was all about truth, integrity, honesty and living as a Christian example. He left a memorable mark of good positive living on this world. He was a man of God and knew where he would spend eternity. His presence here will be missed.
Ray is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bonnie and his three sons, Mark, Timothy (Joni), Brian (Annette). His grand children are Adrian, Audrey, Ashlie, Kendra, Chloe, Sarah and Katie and seven great grand children. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law: Janice Gifford, Ramona Swindler and two brothers-in-law: Frank Jorda and Jeff Willliams: many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 7 siblings, Martha, Pauline, Ida, Ernestine, Fred, Emma, and Esther. Ray Bieber
