Ramona L. (Grosz) Swindler, 92, died January 9th, 2024, at Country House in Dickinson, North Dakota. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 27th at Mott Evangelical Community Church with Pastor Steven Meckle officiating.

Ramona Leona Grosz was born in Mott on December 4th, 1931 to William and Mary (Baesler) Grosz. She attended school in Mott where she participated in the Follies and developed her love for writing. As a youngster, she worked in her parent's grocery store, Grosz Meat Market, on main street in Mott. She graduated from Mott Lincoln High School in 1949. Following high school, she worked for one year at FmHA in Mandan. On weekends she rode the "Galloping Goose" home.

Ramona married her high school sweetheart, Marion Francis Swindler, June 4th, 1950 and became both a military and farm wife. When Marion was active in the Korean War as part of the National Guard, they spent some of the early days of their marriage in Alabama. After this, being back home on the family farm south of Mott, Ramona learned all about farm life, driving truck, running the grain dryer, keeping the books and payroll, and being involved in all aspects of the farm operation. Two children were born of this union, Kerry Dale in 1953 and Yvonne Marie in 1955.

Later in life, Ramona and Marion took to traveling including internationally to South Africa, China, Brazil, the Philippines, Hawaii, the lower 48, Mexico, and Canada. They wintered for many years in Texas and Arizona. When not involved in the activities of the farm, Marion and Mona spent time at their trailer on Lake Tschida. Marion passed away February 1st, 2002.

Ramona was blessed twice with love in life, marrying Frank R. Jorda September 30th, 2006 in Mott. The couple spent time traveling together, including a trip to Guatemala, and spent time with family and being involved with the family farm.

She was an avid reader and always had a dream to write a book. Ramona enjoyed bowling and snowmobiling. Ramona kept a garden and grew beautiful roses, tulips, and peonies. She played the piano and sang, and she offered these talents at the Methodist church in Mott where she also directed the adult choir. Later, she led music at Mott Evangelical Community Church where she was also a charter member. There she also served on the building committee, the church board, and other positions. She was involved in the Jayceettes, Eastern Star, and the Concerned Women of America. She was on the board for Dakota Women's Retreat and the Board of Regents for Mary College.

Anyone who knew Ramona recognized she was a fashionable dresser, always put together, and was an immaculate house keeper. She loved her family & friends and enjoyed hosting gatherings for them. She was close to her grandkids, passing down her love of music and reading. Most importantly to her was passing down her faith in Jesus.
