(Hannah) Priscilla Mitchell Karinen was born in Spearfish on February 18, 1924 and spent her early childhood on the Mitchell ranch in the Bear Lodge of Wyoming, graduating from Belle Fourche High School in 1941. Priscilla received her teaching certificate in Gillette prior to moving to Belle Fourche. Priscilla married Harry M Mitchell, Sr. in 1942 and worked at the Ben Franklin in Deadwood and for a short time in the ship yards on the east coast as a welder during the war.

Priscilla began working at the Lee Store in Belle Fourche as bookkeeper in November of 1961 and was hired as Manager in October of 1965. When the Newberry Company closed the Lee Store in March of 1972, Priscilla became the General Merchandise Manager at the Piggly Wiggly Store (currently Lynn's Dakota Mart) until her retirement in 1990.

In addition to Priscilla's retail management occupation, she raised three children when widowed at age 39, maintained her hobby farm with sheep, chickens, gardening and an orchard. In 1975 Priscilla married Enoch Karinen and continued her hobby farm activities on East National Street. Many local residents may remember her Bantam Chickens and Red Turkey roaming the yard.

Priscilla loved her animals, especially her house cats, any stray cat that ventured into the yard and she loved to feed and watch the wild birds.

Priscilla is survived by her sons, Harry M. (Regina) Mitchell Jr. of Ninnekah OK, Malcolm (Melissa) Mitchell of Belle Fourche; daughter, Maxine (Don Fischer) Taylor of Aberdeen SD; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Priscilla is preceded in death by husbands Harry Mitchell and Enoch Karinen, brothers Edwin Mitchell, Royal (Tuffy) Mitchell and Preston Mitchell.
