Phyllis Mae Schalesky, 81 of Carson, ND passed away on August 15, 2020 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center in Elgin, ND.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elgin, ND, with Deacon Deb Cantrell officiating.

Phyllis Mae Schalesky, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, loved Jesus and loved to dance.  Now she is dancing with Jesus! She was born July 12 ^th , 1939 in Devils Lake North Dakota to Mae and Russell Mackey. She grew up in Pleasant Lake, ND and graduated from Rugby High School May 29, 1957. August 10th that same year, she married Alwood James Schalesky in the Methodist church across the road from her childhood home.

Phyllis and Alwood made their home in Minot, ND where they raised five children and fed and took care of many others. Family was very important to her, and she made everyone who entered her home instantly feel like family. She was extremely creative in more ways than you could possibly list and gave generously from whatever she had. Every birthday was a cause for a wonderful celebration and every holiday sparked her decorating passion. Phyllis especially loved Christmas! She had special towels, bedding and even pictures for the walls in the holiday season.

For 10 years, Phyllis worked as a nurse's aide at Trinity Medical Center in Minot. She was also the office manager for Schalesky and Son's Construction, keeping the finances and employees in order. She served in her church and volunteered for Hospice in Minot. She wore many important hats in her lifetime and helped many people behind the scenes.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Alwood, children: Alwood Schalesky Jr. (Terri) Blaine, M, Alison Williams (Brett) Helena, MT, Stephen Schalesky (Brandi) Apple Valley, MN, Melissa Lawrence (Dana) Fort Worth, TX, and Melody Larson (Matt) Farmington, MN. There are 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great, great grandson. Douglas Holt, brother. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mae Holt, father, Russell Mackey, half-sisters Marilyn Berg, Concrete, WA; Lois England, Renton, WA, LeRoy (Buster) Mackey, (Minot, ND) Vernon Mackey, (Texas).
