Obituary

Paul Woiwode, age 81, of Regent, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at his home in Regent.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Mott.

PAUL WOIWODE was born on August 21, 1934 in Raub, ND to Clarence "Doc" and Martha (Matheny) Woiwode. He spent most of his early education being taught by his mother in a one-room school house and finished his education at Mott Lincoln High School. After some local jobs in North Dakota, Paul decided to go to Centralia, Washington, where his Uncle Ira lived. While there he went on a blind date with Delsie Smith, whom he later married in April of 1957. Paul and Delsie made their home in Kent, WA growing their family to four with the births of Jolene and Scott.

For many years Paul worked at Sears in Renton, WA as the building maintenance engineer and later had his own woodworking business at home in Kent, WA. Delsie unfortunately succumbed to cancer in 1992, shortly after their 35th wedding anniversary. Dad spent another two years in Kent, and then moved back to Regent, North Dakota. He later married Kathleen Landsberger, who also succumbed to cancer after they had been married for just a few years.

Among Paul's other "family" were the many dogs that were a part of his life. Rarely was his home without a dog. Many will remember Jessie, Lucy, RT ("real trouble"), and Molly.

He loved to be around the farm, spending many family vacations driving grain truck or working in the field. He was also a voracious reader, enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, and tinkering on cars or trucks.

Paul passed from this life at his home in Regent on December 1, 2015 at the age of 81.

Grateful for having shared in Paul's life are his daughter Jolene (Steve) Moe, White Salmon, WA; his son Scott Woiwode, Santa Clara, CA; his grandson Matthew Ortega, WA; his sister Jean (Ron) Blilie, Texas; and his niece Robin.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and both of his wives.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in Paul's name.
